Even though no Milwaukee Brewer team officials have confirmed the pursuit of Baltimore free agent Manny Machado, baseball insiders are speculating about what kind of package it would take to bring the shortstop to the Crew. Outfielder Brett Phillips would seem to be a good choice, since he is big league-ready and could be Baltimore’s center fielder for years to come. Phillips is blocked out of the Milwaukee outfield. Corbin Burnes, Luis Ortiz and Brandon Woodruff are other prospects which might be attractive to Baltimore. Seven teams have reportedly made offers for Machado, but the general consensus is the Dodgers and Brewers are leading the pack. The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox emerged as a possible destination Monday.
