Jefferson Council Withdraws from Wizards and Warriors Festival

Last night at the Jefferson City Council, Mayor Dale Opperman declared the week of January 14th as “Adult School Crossing Guard Recognition Week”. The council also approved a resolution authorizing a withdrawal from an agreement with HP Fans, Inc, the company that put on the “Warriors and Wizards Festival”. City Administrator Tim Freitag tells WFAW news…

While the resolution withdrawals the city from the agreement to lend city funds to the company to put on the festival, it does not wave the city’s right of reimbursement of those funds. The council also passed resolutions to authorize the hiring of Town & Country Engineering, Inc. for the design of 2019 street improvements, a resolution authorizing the hiring of MSA Professional Services, Inc for design of the Golf Drive extension, a resolution to hire a part-time patrol officer, and a resolution approving of the Suburban Mutual Assistance Response Teams or “SMART” agreement, which is an agreement between area law enforcement agencies to work together in the event of a man made or natural disaster.
