ST. JOSEPH FAMILY FAIR

WHITEWATER ARTS CENTER PRESENTS JIM WINSHIP
Jim Winship, will perform “Outsider Stories: Tales from the Creative Fringe” on Friday, August 8th at 7 PM at the Cultural Arts Center in Whitewater. These original stories and adaptations of traditional tales fit with the theme and spirit of the Wisconsin Folk Art-Miracles of the Spirit exhibit, which profiles work by Wisconsin outsider or folk artists featured in the book, Miracles of the Spirit.   This adult storytelling event is free to the public, and visitors are welcome to view the exhibit after Winship’s presentation. If you have any questions call Marjorie Stoneman at 414-861-4126
16TH ANNUAL STEAK FRY AT LAUDERDALE LANDING
The 16th Annual Lauderdale-LaGrange Fire Department Steak Fry is Saturday August 9th at the Lauderdale Landing. The event runs from 1 to 7 PM at W 5625 West Shore Drive. The cost is $11 for steak and $6 for a burger with all the fixings. There will also be great door prizes with all of the proceeds benefiting the purchase of a new ambulance.
ALBION FINE ARTS AND CRAFTS SHOW
Head out for a drive in the country to Albion for the 13th annual fine arts and crafts show where the atmosphere is as warm as the people. This country park comes alive with over 50 crafters displaying their wares from homemade knitted sweaters to having your name engraved in stone. Food vendors are available as well as antique buggy display. Join us on Saturday August 1st from 9 AM to 3 PM. Admission is free, so come on down and enjoy a great summer day.
MAIN STREET BIG BAND AT BARRIE PARK
The Main Street Big Band will be playing a free concert at the Barrie Park Bandshell in FortAtkinson on Saturday, August 9th from 6 to 8 PM. Main Street is an 18-piece big band based in Lake Mills and is comprised of musicians from all over southern Wisconsin. Bring your own lawn chair and listen to a mix of jazz, blues, swing, and ballads. If you have any questions call 920-648-4049.
SUMMER BAZAAR AT ST. BENEDICT IN FONTANA

FORT TEEN CENTER CAR WASH
Fort Atkinson's new Teen Center, "The Escape," is hosting a car wash on August 10th, held behind St. Paul's Lutheran School, 309 Bluff Street, in Fort Atkinson. The youth from The Escape are dedicated to Caring for their Community. FORT ATKINSON CITY BAND CONCERT
The fifth and final Fort Atkinson City Band Concert of the summer season is scheduled for August 11th at 7:30 PM. The concert will be held at the Barrie Park Band Shell. A cookout and ice cream social sponsored by Trinity Lutheran and the Fort Atkinson Garden Club will start at 4 PM and ice cream will be served throughout the concert. In case of inclement weather the concert and ice-cream social will move across the street to Trinity Lutheran Church.

RCHD IMMUNIZATION CLINIC
The Rock County Health Department is conducting an Immunization Clinic in Beloit Township, at the Beloit Town Hall, 2871 Afton Rd., from 3 to 5 PM on Tuesday, August 12th. Parents need to be present to sign forms before vaccines can be given and please bring a record of your child’s vaccinations. The cost of each vaccine for a person birth through 18 years of age is $5.
WW CULTURAL ARTS PRESENTS: MIRACLES OF THE SPIRIT
Visitors coming to Whitewater’s Cultural Arts Center, 402 West Main Street, to see the Wisconsin Folk Art-Miracles of the Spirit exhibit from August 1st to September 11th will view unique art created by folk or outsider artists from around the state, some of whom use discarded items to create their art. Exhibit hours from August 1st to September 11th will be Wednesday and Thursday, 11 AM to 4 PM; Friday, 1 to 8 PM; and Saturday and Sunday, noon to 6 PM. To schedule an appointment to view the exhibit at other times, contact Dawn Hunter at 262-473-2730.
JCHD IMMUNIZATION CLINIC

BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS GOLF FOR KIDS
Big Brothers Big Sisters and Briggs & Stratton PPG are partnering together for their 4th Annual Golf for Kids event supporting youth mentoring programs in the JeffersonCounty area.  The event is scheduled for Thursday, August 14th at Koshkonong Mounds in FortAtkinson.  Registration fee is $75/golfer which includes lunch, 18 holes of golf, dinner, team prizes, hole events and giveaways.  The event is open to the public and encourages both individuals and corporate teams to participate.  Lunch starts at 11:30 AM and tee-off at 12:30.  Call 888-904-KIDS for more information.

SECOND HARVEST FOOD DISTRIBUTION
Any family in need of food in the Fort Atkinson area should arrive at St. Joseph Parish on Thursday, August 14th, from 2:30 to 4 PM. Second Harvest will be distributing food at 1660 Endl Blvd. in Fort Atkinson. Participating families should bring their own grocery containers to carry their food home.
RECRUIT MILITARY CAREER FAIR
The Recruit Military Career Fair event will take place in Milwaukee on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at the BradleyCenter from 11 AM to 3 PM. Over 300 veterans are expected to attend this special event intended to help our recently returning troops and other veterans and service members, and their spouses find jobs. Veterans will be able to interview with an all-star team of National, Regional, & Local employers at the Recruit Military Career Fair.
