A high-speed police pursuit spanned 24 miles and ended in Jefferson County Thursday night.

The chase began just before 9 a.m. in Waukesha County when a 52-year-old Pennsylvania woman pulled up behind a State Trooper during a traffic stop on Interstate 94. The woman nearly struck the squad car and told the trooper she had just taken drugs. The trooper immediately called an ambulance and removed the woman's keys from her vehicle.

Apparently, the woman had a spare set of keys which she used to take off and lead officials on a chase westbound on the interstate towards Jefferson County at speeds around 125 miles per hour.

Both Waukesha and Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies deployed stop sticks but were unsuccessful.

The woman did eventually pull over in Jefferson County and continued to flee on foot where she was caught by the State Trooper, taken into custody and transported to an area hospital.

Criminal charges have yet to be filed but are likely to go through Waukesha County. Although the driver nearly hit several other vehicles during the pursuit, no one was injured in the incident.
