Fort picks new school Superintendent

The School District of Fort Atkinson is proud to announce that in a Special Board Meeting held on Sunday, March 19, Dr. Beverly (Lynn) Brown was selected by unanimous vote as the next Superintendent of the School District of Fort Atkinson.

Dr. Brown will replace Dr. Jeff Zaspel, who announced in November his intention to retire on June 30, 2017. Dr. Brown has served as the Superintendent of Schools for the Montello School District inMontello, Wisconsin since 2013. Prior to that position, Dr. Brown was an Elementary Principal at the Jacob Shapiro Elementary and Jacob Shapiro Brain-Based Instruction Laboratory School in Oshkosh, Wisconsin from 1997 to 2013. Prior to that time, Dr. Brown served as an Assistant Principal and Math/Media Teacher at Bright School (PreK-8) in Chicago, Illinois, and a Mathematics Teacher at the Prairie Hills Jr. High School in Markham, Illinois. Dr. Brown is a member of the North American Feurstein Institute, American Association of School Administrators (AASA), American Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (AASCD) , Marquette County Substance Abuse Policy Committee Board Member, Health Children, Healthy Youth Committee, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Rural Schools Alliance (WiRSA). Dr. Brown was recognized by the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce with the 2011 Partnership AT Learning of the Year Award, is an Advisory Board Member for the Chicago Metro History Education Center, and is a member of the Chicago Children’s Museum - Navy Pier. Dr. Brown earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and her Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Governor’s State University in University Park, Illinois. Dr.Brown earned her Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, Fischler School of Education and Human Services, North Miami Beach, Florida, Concentration: Instructional Leadership. Dr. Brown was one of 50 applicants for the position of Superintendent. Five (5) candidates wereinterviewed in the first round of interviews, conducted on February 24, 2017.
