Racine Mayor Declares Emergency Due To Massive Erosion Along Shoreline

The City of Racine is asking for state and federal assistance as it deals with massive erosion along the Lake Michigan shoreline.  Mayor Cory Mason issued a declaration of emergency Wednesday.  High winds of 50 miles-an-hour combined with 20-foot waves to cause millions of dollars in damages.  The worst damage has been reported at Pershing Park, Carre-Hogle Park, North Beach, Zoo Beach and the bluffs near the Racine Zoological Gardens.  The mayor calls the situation “unprecedented.”
