American Legion Baseball Called Off – 1st Time Since 1927

There will be no American Legion baseball in Wisconsin this summer.  For the first time since 1927, the Legion in Wisconsin is canceling the season.  The announcement was made Saturday.

American Legion baseball is a summer league for high school players. There are a number of Legion programs in the Jefferson County area, including Fort Atkinson, Jefferson and Watertown.

Fort Atkinson was also set host the 2020 state tournament at Jones Park this summer.

Wisconsin American Legion Baseball Commissioner Roger Mathison says the board considered the health of the players, coaches, parents, fans and volunteers while making its decision.  There were 217 teams playing last summer in the state, making it the fourth-largest program in the U-S.

Insurance and registration refunds will be processed in two-to-three weeks.
